Why
coming to Tunisia
Of course, like any
méditerranean destination, you will come for the good weather probability
and the quality of natural light. But there is more in Tunisia.
« Oriental Switzerland »
?
One could say so, as
Tunisia is such a moderate and quiet country. In these troubled days,
Tunisie keeps being an extremely safe and still tolerant country. It is the
only one, for instance, where Sunday is closed, where polygamy is prosecuted –
ever since independance – ; divorce and abortion have been legalized there
since the early 60's.
Nowadays, downtown major cities, the atmosphere is quite western, from the
dress of pretty walkers to bank cash machines. Tunisia also is a country
where the student population is particularly high.

Outward and
inside
Let's talk the truth.
By choosing development through mass tourism, Tunisia
has partly tarnished its image. But you don't come to follow the crowd, do
you ? There are few countries for the professional photographer that
concentrate so many interesting locations on such a small scale : you will
be living in a largely « European-like » town, with its residential
suburbs its business and offices blocks and broad avenues bordered with
plane trees on one side, and, in the other side, the medina concentrating
all your dreams of Orient.
Then, thirty or sixty miles away from your hotel, you will drop in very
traditionnal villages lost in the countryside, in the desert foothills of
the Atlas, on beautiful sand beaches which are not overcrowded with tourists,
in fields with olive trees at loss of sight, or in the magical dunes of the Sahara…
This Tunisian strategy also has its benefits : good quality road network,
reliable string and cellular telecommunication networks, superior 4**** and
5***** hotel infrastructures…
