As soon as you get out of Tabarka, a charming little fishermen town surrounded with long beaches of fine sand, you will find a large spaces and fertile fields nature, before you climb small mountains covered with forests of pines and cork-oaks, where the snow falls in winter, a true hunter's paradise (plenty of boars). Oueds (rivers) are barely dry here, you can fully enjoy small bridges, little ways snaking upon the hills, small roads bordered with venerable eucalyptus or more rarely flat trees, until you reach some old lost farms with their steep red tile rooves. During spring, layers of poppies and other flowers of all colors spread in green wheat and olive trees fields. North and Center of Tunisia are also the area where you find the biggest part of Roman relieves. You could rather choose to go towards marshes of the Ichkeul Lake Natural Reserve, and then go to Bizerte, a traditional military point where the Arab old town faces the old French one, along a charming canal.
